Baby bison is Illinois' first in nearly two centuries


History was made Monday when the first wild bison was born in Illinois in about two centuries. "This was quite the surprise," said Cody Considine, restoration ecologist at the 3,500-acre Nachusa Grasslands, a prairie restoration project near Franklin Grove, about 95 miles west of Chicago.
