Filling over 5,000 square meters, Allmende Kontor is a community garden where anyone can grow flowers, vegetables and plants. As the city does not allow permanent plots, plants and vegetables are grown in an array of unusual materials. While plywood boxes are scattered throughout, other gardeners opt for cooking pots, old shoes, a basketball and even suitcases. Visually this project straddles a world between gardening and contemporary art installation.
