A growing number of private players believe they can commercialize fusion energy within a decade, promising a carbon-free energy source with near-limitless fuel, potentially in time to ease the mounting risks of climate change. A team at Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works revealed late last year that they’re at work on a truck-sized fusion reactor. Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and others have plugged money into General Fusion in Burnaby, British Columbia.
