
In 1941 the National Park Service commissioned noted photographer Ansel Adams to create a photo mural of national parks for the Department of the Interior Building in Washington, DC. Although the project was halted by World War II, the 226 photographs taken by Adams for the project are now housed at the National Archives, and you can freely view them online or order prints at their site.
